The Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Panjab University, Chandigarh on the eve of “Heritage Week” organized a special lecture on “Introduction to Prehistoric Stone Tools” by Dr. Parth R. Chauhan, Faculty, Humanities and Social Sciences, IISER,Mohali. In his illustrated talk he introduced students to variety of stone tools.
According
to him, the cave sites are the best preserved sites to study stone tools.
He
threw light on how the changing environment influenced the tool making.
The students
were given hand on experience on tool handling and identification. Dr.
Banani
Bhattacharya, Deputy Director, Archaeology and Museum, Haryana spoke on the
outline of
Prehistory of India and informed students about the importance of this period
to know
about the culture of those times.The lecture was attended by faculty members,
students and research scholars of Panjab University.
