A two days Training Programme for Panel Advocates of District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula and Sub-Divisional Legal Services Authority, Kalka was held at the Administrative Building of Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Panchkula.

In the inaugural session of the training programme, Vivek Goyal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula exhorted the participants that a Lawyer holds a very respectable position in the society and he must carry himself in the Court as well as in the public as a responsible person. He further apprised the panel lawyers about the professional ethics for lawyers and their duties towards their clients as well as the Court. He further asked the panel lawyers to put their 100 per cent while conducting case of the litigant whom they represent and efforts be made to provide them quality legal aid.

The Master Trainers namely Manbir Rathi and Arvind Khurania provided training to the Panel lawyers using the presentation and by showing documentaries on the projectors screen. Practical problems were given to the groups formed amongst the trainees and they were encouraged to discuss the various aspects of a particular problem. Under this Training Programme, various provisions of laws relating to Hindu Marriage Act, Law of Marriage and Divorce amongst Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jews and under Special Marriage Act, 1954, Law of Maintenance to Wife, Law of Property, Consumer Protection Act, 1986, Property Rights of Women under Hindu and Muslim Laws, and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 were covered.

In the valedictory session, Subhas Mehla, learned District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula graced the occasion. He exhorted the lawyers to work for the cause of down-trodden and deprived section of the society and to ensure that the benefit of Legal Services Authority reaches till the last person. The learned District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Panchkula also presented certificates to the participating advocates.
