The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University is organizing a one week faculty training school on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” from April 8 to 13, 2019 under the initiative of UGC Networking Resource Centre. The course will be attended by 20 selected faculty participants representing 10 states across the country.
Models for transforming innovative ideas to entrepreneurial start-ups will be discussed during the course. Experts will dwell upon critical areas including ideation, proof of concept, validation, regulatory compliances and approvals. The course will also deliberate on the ways to secure the required financial backing. Critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, collaboration, flexibility, teamwork, communication, and leadership – the key skills to being a successful entrepreneur, will be especially covered during the course.
The program will be inaugurated by Professor Hirendra N Ghosh, Director, Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali on the occasion and Professor Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University, will preside over the function.
Chairperson of the Institute, Professor Kanwaljit Chopra is the Programme Coordinator of UGC-NRC Programme. Professor Indu Pal Kaur (UIPS) will be the Coordinator of the Course, while Dr Vandita Kakkar (UIPS) will be the Joint Coordinator.
Sessions will open with a lecture by Dr Rohit Sharma, Chief Coordinator & Project Leader, Cluster Innovation Centre in Biotechnology & BioNEST, Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed by interaction with various start-ups working at BioNEST. The post-lunch session will cover plenary lecture by Dr Manmohan Singh Gill, Technical Specialist, PDS, Contract Pharmaceuticals Limited Canada, and an alumnus of the Institute; and a popular lecture by Dr Jatinder V Yakhmi, Ex-Associate Director, Physics Group, and Head, Technical Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai on the topic “When Talents in Fine Arts Helped Creativity and Innovations in Science.”
Highlight of this course is a One-Day Symposium on April 9, 2019 with the same theme. Candidates selected for participation in the UGC-NRC program will get free registration for the Symposium. The day will cover plenary talks and panel discussion by eminent speakers.
