न्ये मतदाता 12 अप्रैल तक पंजीकरण कारवा लें : उपायुक्त

पंचकूला, 18 मार्च-

उपायुक्त एवं जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी डाॅ0 बलकार सिंह ने कहा कि 1 जनवरी 2019 को 18 वर्ष की आयु पूरी कर चुके जिला के ऐसे नागरिक, जिनका नाम अभी तक फोटोयुक्त मतदाता सूची में शामिल नहीं है, वे 12 अप्रैल तक अपना पंजीकरण करवा सकते है। उन्होंने कहा कि जो मतदाता 12 अप्रैल तक अपना पंजीकरण करवा लेंगे, उन्हें भी लोकसभा चुनाव में मतदान करने का अवसर मिलेगा।

डाॅ0 बलकार सिंह ने बताया कि नये वोट निर्वाचन विभाग की वेबसाईट पर आॅन लाईन भी बनवाये जा सकते है। इसके अलावा अपने क्षेत्र के बूथ लेवल अधिकारी से 6 नंबर फार्म प्राप्त करके, उसके साथ दो रंगीन फोटो, आवास और आयु प्रमाण पत्र लगाकर आवेदन किया जा सकता है। उन्होंने बताया कि जो विद्यार्थी विभिन्न संस्थानों में शिक्षा प्राप्त कर रहे है और उनके पास आवास संबंधि कोई दस्तावेज नहीं है, ऐसे विद्यार्थी अपने संस्थान के पिं्रसीपल के सत्यापन के माध्यम से वोट बनवा सकते है।

  उपायुक्त ने बताया कि 31 जनवरी 2019 को प्रकाशित की गई मतदाता सूचियों में पंचकूला जिला में मतदाताओं की संख्या 3 लाख 56 हजार 808 है, इनमें पुरूष मतदाताओं की संख्या 189829 तथा महिला मतदाताओं की संख्या 166973 है। जिला में 6 थर्ड जेंडर मतदाता भी है। उन्होंने बताया कि कालका विधानसभा क्षेत्र में 163700 मतदाता 31 जनवरी तक पंजीकृत हुए थे, जिनमें 87046 पुरूष तथा 76653 महिला मतदाता है। इसी प्रकार पंचकूला विधानसभा क्षेत्र में मतदाताओं की संख्या 193108 है, जिनमें 102783 पुरूष तथा 90320 महिला मतदाता है। उन्होंने बताया कि जिला में मतदान के लिये 410 मतदान केंद्र स्थापित किये जायेंगे। इनमें से कालका विधानसभा क्षेत्र के 213 और पंचकूला विधानसभा क्षेत्र के लिये 197 मतदान केंद्र होंगे।

Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Service Authority was the Guest of Honour of the Seminar. Shri. T.C. Nautiyal from Indian Forest Services was also one of the panellists in the seminar.

Prof. Ram Lal Gupta left for his heavenly abode

            Professor Ram Lal Gupta, who served the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, Panjab University dedicatedly for around 33 years, left for his heavenly abode yesterday evening.

            Former Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Gupta was a highly dedicated teacher, prolific researcher and experienced organizer of the Pharmaceutical Conference events. He has been the Founder Director Principal of ASBASJS Memorial College of Pharmacy at Bela (Dist Ropar) too, which he served after his superannuation from Panjab University for about 16 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 06 cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered.

In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 06 different cases U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC got registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 06 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public   place. All later on bailed out. The detail of police Stations in which cases U/S 68-1 (B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 got registered:- PS-17= 1 case, PS-Ind. Area = 1 case, PS-I.T Park = 1 case, PS-36 = 3 cases.

This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

Two arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh Police arrested Pappu R/o # 717/27, BDC, Sector-26, Chandigarh (age-50 yrs.) from TPT Light Point, towards BDC light point, Chandigarh andrecovered 410 injections of drugs from his possession on 17.03.2019. A case FIR No. 58, U/S 22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police arrested Deepak R/o Gali No.1, Jhuggi near Khera Jujhar Nagar, Distt.- Mohali, Punjab from near Petrol Pump, Sector-56, Chandigarh and recovered 200 gram Charas from his possession on 17.03.2019. A case FIR No. 70, U/S 20 NDPS Act has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Burglary

Kedar Nath R/o # 1774, Aman Colony, Village- Dhanas, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away cash Rs. 5,000/-, DVR, Cheque Book and some documents from Plot No. 931, Phase-2, Industrial Area, Chandigarh after breaking lock on night intervening dated 16/17.03.2019. A case FIR No. 100, U/S 380, 457 IPC has been registered in PS-31 Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Accident

A case FIR No. 36, U/S 279, 304A IPC has been registered in PS-Maloya, Chandigarh on the statement of Rajesh R/o # 214, Janta Colony, Naya Gaon, Punjab against driver of bus No. PB-2CR-6626 who sped away after hitting to complainant’s M/Cycle No. PB-27E-2584 near Baghiya Nursery, Sahapur Colony, Sector-38/W, Chandigarh, on 17.03.2019. Motor cycle rider Rajesh, pillion rider namely Shivika & Vandana got injured and admitted in PGI, Chandigarh where doctor declared Vandana brought dead. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

          A lady resident of Sector-37, Chandigarh reported that unknown person stolen away complainant’s activa scooter No. CH-01BF-5094 while parked near her residence on night intervening dated 08/09.03.2019. A case FIR No. 71, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Snatching

Kanhaiya Kumar R/o village- Milkpur, Distt.-Mohali, Punjab reported that 03 unknown persons occupant of Motor Cycle snatched away complainant’s mobile phone from near Sarangpur light point, Chandigarh on 17.03.2019. A case FIR No. 36, U/S 379, 356 IPC has been registered in PS-Sarangpur, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Extortion

Sandeep Rihan resident of Canada reported that unknown person threatened to complainant’s at Hotel Sector-35, Chandigarh for demanding extortion money Rs. 20 lacs on 16.03.2019. A case FIR No. 62, U/S 384, 387 IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress. 

National workshop on “Inclusion: Making it Happen”

Day 7 of Workshop on Education

            Centre of Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM), Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh – under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India – is organising seven days’ workshop on ‘Inclusion: Making it happen’ from 11th to 17th March, 2019.

            On the seventh day of National workshop on “Inclusion: Making it Happen”, participants shared their experiences of the workshop. Prof. Tehal Kohli, President, INPA shared her journey in the field of inclusive education and Professor Anuradha Sharma summarized the report of the entire workshop. Prof. Latika Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Education, Panjab University congratulated the organizers and the participants on organizing a successful workshop Prof. Kirandeep Singh encouraged the participants. Participants were handed over the certificate. Prof. Raj Gupta, professor, Department of Education concluded the session by expressing gratitude to all the stakeholders in the workshop.

2nd Intro Department Trial Advocacy Competition, 2019

            University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized and concluded the 2nd Intro Department Trial Advocacy Competition, 2019. The black and white embellishments welcomed the spirit of 40 Teams from within the department to show their skills in art of articulation.

            The first day of Competition comprised of one preliminary round adjudged by advocates of Punjab and Haryana High Court, District Courts of the Tricity and Alumni of UILS. The first round commenced  after the briefing of the judges in the moot court hall. The bars were set high by the end of the first round due to exceptional analytical and argumentative skills. The preliminary round 2 proceeded on 2nd day with participants and witnesses demonstrating exuberant devotion towards their argumentative skills. The judges of the preliminary rounds were acknowledged with mementos as a mark of respect. The 2nd day then preceded with quarter finals adjudged by advocates of Punjab & Haryana High Court and District Courts followed by Semi final rounds adjudged by senior advocates and senior professors of the department.

            With vibrant argumentative skills, top two teams qualified for the finals in the moot court hall adjudged by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajan Gupta, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Avneesh Jhingan and Prof. (Dr.). Rajinder Kaur, Professor, UILS, PU.

            The whole event was successful because of creative and scholarly richness of the organizing committee who worked under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.). Rattan Singh, Director, UILS and Dr. Jai Mala, Faculty, Coordinator, Moot Court Society, UILS, PU.

Annual sports day event held at Girls Hostel No. 2, P U

Pond Cleaning by PU volunteers on World Water Day

            To celebrate World Water Day which falls on 22 March,2019, NSS volunteers of Panjab University, Chandigarh supported the Pond Cleaning and awareness drive of L&T company(CSR activity) at village Joula Khurd, Dera Bassi block, SAS Nagar, Mohali. We are grateful for the all out support of Mr.N.K.Sharma, M.L.A, Zirakpur in this initiative taken up as a CSR activity by 25 volunteers of L & T team and PU NSS volunteers. The efforts of the Sarpanch of the village Joula Khurd S.Parminder Singh in extending his support in this initiative led to the successful completion of the project. Also these volunteers participated in the cleanliness awareness drive at the location of the identified pond. The volunteers met the village residents and tried to make them aware of the benefits of cleanliness of the pond and also discussed the benefits of clean water in the ponds. Villagers also committed to the volunteers  that they would make efforts to keep their pond clean. The village Sarpanch  also said that he will make efforts to create walkways around the pond and beautify the entire place by planting more trees around the park. The efforts of student volunteers were also appreciated and acknowledged when they received certificates of Appreciation from the L & T team. Dr. Anupreet Kaur Mavi coordinated the activity as Programme Officer, NSS Panjab University, Chandigarh with support from Dr.Amandeep Singh Marwaha, Associate Director, Central Placement Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

पररीकर पंचतत्व में विलीन

सादगी, कर्मठता, अनुशासन और सोमयता की प्रतिमूर्ति मनोहर गोपाल कृष्ण प्रभु पर्रीकर आज पाँच तत्व में विलीन हो गए। उनके ज्येष्ठ पुत्र ने उन्हे मुखाग्नि दी।

 गोवा के मुख्‍यमंत्री मनोहर पर्रिकर की अंतिम विदाई के वक्‍त भारी जन सैलाब उमड़ पड़ा. शाम 5 बजे से उनकी अंतिम यात्रा शुरू हुई. शाम छह बजे उनका शव अंतिम संस्‍कार के लिए ग्रांउड पर लाया गया. यहां हर आम और खास उनके अंतिम दर्शन कर रहे हैं. बीजेपी अध्‍यक्ष अमित शाह ने भी उनके पार्थि‍व देह के अंतिम दर्शन किए और पुष्‍पांजलि अर्प‍ित की.

13 दिसंबर, 1955 को गोवा के मापुसा में जन्मे पर्रिकर की शिक्षा लोयोला स्कूल, मडगांव में हुई और उसके बाद उन्‍होंने 1978 में स्नातक की उपाधि, भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, मुम्‍बई से मेटलर्जिकल इंजीनियरिंग में प्राप्‍त की. राजनीति में आने से पहले पर्रिकर राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ में शामिल हुए. गौरतलब है कि गोवा के मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर पर्रिकर का रविवार को उनके निजी आवास पर निधन हो गया. वह 63 वर्ष के थे. चार बार के मुख्यमंत्री और पूर्व रक्षा मंत्री पर्रिकर फरवरी 2018 से ही अग्नाशय संबंधी बीमारी से पीड़ित थे.
