Panjab University and ICSSR North Western Region jointly organized a lecture on “Guru Nanak Bani Da Sabhayacharak Sandharbh”, here today in connection with 550th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. 
The program was organized to create awareness among the people about Guru Nanak Dev ji’s teachings, principles and Banis. 

Prof. Harmohinder Singh Bedi, Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh addressed the audience on Guru Nanak’s preaching. He discussed about Sidh Gosht, Classical Rags, Banis of different Bhagats and Saints, Prof. Sahib Singh’s Teeka pothi and Bhakti Lehar. He shared his views with the audience about the diversity in Guru Nanak Dev ji’s bani as it contains traces of Panini, the Sanskrit Grammar, Marathi, Rajasthani, Islamic and many more languages. He also emphasized on the three principle teachings (Kirat Karo, Naam Japo, Vand Shako) of Guru Nanak Dev ji. Prof. Bedi
concluded the lecture by saying that to understand the Asian culture or Sabhayachar of Hindustan, it is important to understand the Gurbani.
Prof. Shankarji Jha, Officiating Vice Chancellor and DUI,  Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Director, ICSSR were present on the occasion.

The session ended with a vote of thanks given by Prof. Yog Raj Angrish, Chairperson, Punjabi Department, PU.
