International Mother Language Day celebrated at PU

        Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, Chandigarh celebrated the 
international mother language day was celebrated, here today which was presided over by the Chairperson Prof. V K Alankar and he emphasised that though foreign languages should be learnt, one must not feel inferior about his/her mother tongue. He mentioned that due to fact that PM Modi speaks Hindi at international events, many Indians have overcomed the sense of any inferiority in speaking Hindi.
        Prof. Pankaj Malviya, Department of Russian was the Saraswat guest and he shared his experiences regarding Hindi he had while his time in Moscow and how it lead to a sense of pride which eventually lead to many works of translation from Russian to Hindi which he authored.
        The chief speaker of the event was Ms Anjali, a research scholar at the 
department. 
        Students belonging to various regions, shared their language and dialects through songs, poems and speeches. Hindi, Haryanvi, Punjabi, Garhwali are some of the languages and dialects heard and cherished at the event.
