On Kalka -Shimla Narrow Gauge section, Train Engine (Locomotive) of Train no. 52455 Himalayan Queen Express, which was going to Shimla from kalka, developed a technical snag due to burning of electrical wires leading to willowing out of smoke from inside the engine room between Dharampur and Kumar Hatti stations .

Train was immediately brought to halt by the alert crew and guard without delay and they informed the control & officers immediately . With the help of fire fighting equipments, fire was extinguished within 20 minutes by Loco pilot, Guard & Ticket examiner (TTE) of the train . Passengers were also cautioned by them. Due to prompt & accurate planning by Control office, the train engine of Train no. 52456 ie Himalayan Queen ( going to kalka)was immediately provided to the stranded train and the affected train was pulled to kumar hatti expeditiously restoring traffic on the section at 15.30 hrs. In the meanwhile Firebrigade from Dharampur and Solan were pressed into service but the railway staff had already controlled the situation and they were not used.

In order to provide connection to Delhi bound stranded passengers of train no. 52456 Himalayan Queen , Train no. 14096 Kalka- Delhi Sarai Rohilla Himalayan Queen and Train no. 12012 Kalka- New Delhi Shatabdi Express were put back and will depart after arrival of train no. 52456 at Kalka.

Suitable award to the staff who exhibited high sense of alertness in handling the tough situation is being given by the Railway Administration.
