On the second day of the two day international seminar on The Legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in honour of his 550th birth anniversary organised by Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh focused on the social aspect of The Legacy. The session begun with Shabad followed by a warm welcome by the academic incharge of the department Prof. Jaspal Kaur Kang. This session was chaired by Dr. Gurmeet Singh former head of Department Punjabi, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Dr. Rajendra Singh Bhatti former head of department of Punjabi, Kurukshetra University. Dr. Shavinder Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor Baba Farid University Faridkot was the guest of honour. in the session Dr. Balwinder Bhatti read a paper on ‘Guru Nanak : symbol of Social-Cultural revolution’ Dr. Mohammed Habib said Baba Nanak gave respect to islam and highlighted that Guru Nanak Dev ji’s Bani and teaching would have been inculcated in our lives.
Dr Rajesh Jaiswal presented a paper on ‘Guru Nanak- symbol of Social Justice’ Dr shivinderpal Kaur focused on Guru Nanak’s contribution to humanitarianism. Other Scholars who presented papers in the session include Dr. Manvinder Singh, Dr. Gurmail Singh, Dr.Harmail Singh, Dr. Kirandeep Singh and Dr. Harpreet Singh. The session was conducted by Dr. Praveen Kumar.
The second session focused on music painting and media perspective of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The session was chaired by Dr.Gurnam Singh, Head, Gurmat Sangeet Department, Punjabi University Patiala
from the Guest of Honor was Dr. Rawail Singh from Delhi University and the famous novelist Jasbir mand was a special invitee. the session saw presentations by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Dr. Jasbir Kaur Puneet, Dr. Pali
Bhupinder Singh Dr. Jagtej Grewal, Dr. Narender and Dr. Ranjit Singh.
The subject expert gave presidential remarks on the presentations. The session was conducted by Dr. Akwinder Kaur.
The valedictory session of the seminar was presided over by Prof. B.S. Ghuman Vice Chancellor Punjabi University Patiala. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh
studies and Prof. Sartaj Trilochan Singh former MP and Prof.Shankarji Jha, Dean University Instructions, PU addressed the gathering. Prof. Tirlochan Singh in his address stressed that a book be written on the journey of Baba Nanak Ji in and around the world.
Dr. Amardeep Kaur presented a report on Two Day international seminar the guest of honour in this session. Dr. Madhav Kaushik President Chandigarh Sahitya Academy, Dr.Narender Singh Virk, Director Haryana Sahitya Academy, Shri Gulzar Singh Sandhu, Vice President Chandigarh Sahitya Academy Prof. R.P.S. Josh and Smt. Sartaj Lamba participated in the valedictory session. Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann in the valedictory addressed said new perspectives on Guru Nanak Dev Ji ‘s Writing, Life and Teaching have been highlighted in the ongoing research.
