Chandigarh Administration likely to re – amend the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 in favour of Sikh women


Chandigarh, September 5, 2018 :

Administrator UT Chandigarh V P Badnore has  directed Chandigarh  Traffic Police to halt the challan campaign of Sikh women driving bikes without helmets for more fifteen days.

The decision to postpone the challan campaign was taken after a delegation of protesting Sikhs met Mr Badnore today. Now the Chandigarh Traffic police will continue awareness campaign for more two weeks .

Earlier , the Sikh organisations stage a protest demonstration against the decision of the Chandigarh administration to enforce the wearing of helmet mandatory for non-turbaned Sikh women driving bikes without helmet . Traffic police had announced to start challan campaign from today.
