Dr Oopinderjit Reminds Cops of Their Role Under Tobacco Act

Workshop on “Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act, 2003 and Role of Police in Implementation of this Act” was organized in Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh under the guidance of Shri Tajender Singh Luthra, I.P.S, DGP, U.T., Chandigarh and under supervision of DSP/Training. In this workshop 50 Police officials (Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables) of Chandigarh Police participated.
Ms. Opinderjit Kaur Gill, President, Generation Saviour Association (NGO), Mohali and her 2 colleague, delivered the lectures and interacted with the participants on the bad effects of smoking like toxin in cigarette, particularly Carbon Monoxide and free radicals, inhibit in blood from ‘flowing through the body. All major organs such as brain, the heart, muscles and tissues in the body all rely upon blood circulation in order to receive oxygen and nutrients. Smoking leads to asthma, heart attack and diseases relating to lungs. In addition to that Police officers are also sensitized about the implementation of various Sections of COTPA, 2003.
