The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday reiterated Justice K.M.Joseph

The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday reiterated the name of Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice K.M.Joseph to the Supreme Court.

The Central government, earlier this year, asked the Collegium to reconsider his elevation to the apex court.

The Collegium, which met in the afternoon, also recommended Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran and Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee to the Supreme Court.

Justice Aniruddha Bose was appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court and Justice Rajendra Menon, who is currently the Patna High Court Chief Justice, was appointed the Delhi High Court Chief Justice.

आंध्रप्रदेश के लिए विशेष राज्य का दर्जा मांग रहे तेलुगु देशम पार्टी (TDP) ने  एनडीए सरकार के खिलाफ अविश्वास प्रस्ताव लेकर आई और इसे मंजूरी भी मिल गई है. शुक्रवार 20 जुलाई को बहस का दिन तय किया गया है.

बहस के लिए सबसे ज्यादा वक्त बीजेपी को मिला है. मोदी सरकार के खिलाफ टीडीपी अविश्वास प्रस्ताव लेकर आई है. चर्चा के लिए टीडीपी को 13 मिनट का वक्त मिला है. कांग्रेस और AIADMK को 38-38 मिनट का वक्त दिया गया है. समाजवादी पार्टी को सिर्फ 6 मिनट का वक्त दिया गया है.

Fortis EGM on Aug 13

The transaction, to be carried out via IHH Healthcare’s arm Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd, was to be followed up by an open offer for an additional 26 percent stake in Fortis.

Fortis Healthcare today said extra ordinary general meeting (EGM) of the company will be held on August 13 to seek shareholders nod for its acquisition by Malaysia’s IHH Healthcare. Last week, Fortis Healthcare board had approved a Rs 4,000-crore offer from IHH Healthcare for 31.1 percent stake in it, valuing the cash-strapped firm at Rs 8,880 crore.

The transaction, to be carried out via IHH Healthcare’s arm Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd, was to be followed up by an open offer for an additional 26 percent stake in Fortis.

In a notice for the EGM, Fortis Healthcare said that the consent of shareholders is being sought for issuance of 23,52,94,117 equity shares on preferential basis at a price of Rs 170 per share aggregating up to Rs 4,000 crore to Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd.

The company is also seeking nod from shareholders to reclassify Malvinder Mohan Singh, Malvinder Mohan Singh- Trust, Shivinder Mohan Singh, Harpal Singh, Abhishek Singh, Fortis Healthcare Holdings Pvt Ltd, Malav Holdings Pvt Ltd and RHC Holding Pvt Ltd from the ‘Promoter and Promoter Group’ shareholder category to ‘Public’ shareholder category.

The company will also ask shareholders to approve classification of Northern TK Venture Pte Ltd as ‘Promoter’ subsequent to the completion of the preferential allotment of equity shares, Fortis Healthcare said.

IHH Healthcare is expected to shell out a total of Rs 7,300 crore to acquire 57.1 percent stake, provided its open offer for 26 percent stake is fully subscribed.

The Malaysian healthcare chain, which will gain majority control of India’s second-largest hospital chain has already stated that in the long term it would rebrand Fortis hospitals into its own Gleneagles chain.

Shares of Fortis Healthcare Ltd today closed 2.96 percent lower at Rs 137.50 per scrip on the BSE.

The NaMo administration on Thursday announced the empanelment of 35 IAS officers (1986 batch) to hold Secretary and Secretary Equivalent posts in Government of India. New Delhi: Former finance minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti have been named as accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Aircel Maxis money laundering case.

The investigative agency filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case in the Patiala House court on Thursday, over a month after the Enforcement Directorate submitted its chargesheet.

The CBI has accused Chidambaram of abuse of power, alleging that he flouted norms to grant Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to firm M/S Global Communication Holding Services Ltd for investment in Aircel.

This is the first time that the senior Congress leader has been directly accused of wrongdoing in the case. The ED had also named him at several places in its chargesheet but had not arrayed him as an accused.

In a tweet, the veteran Congress leader alleged that the CBI has been pressured to file the chargesheet by the BJP government at the centre.

“CBI has been pressured to file a charge sheet to support a preposterous allegation against me and officers with a sterling reputation. The case is now before the Hon’ble Court and it will be contested vigorously. I shall make no more public comment,” he wrote.

Apart from Chidambaram and his son, the CBI has named nine public servants as well as officials of Aircel Maxis. The court will take cognizance of the chargesheet on July 31.

According to the CBI, Mauritius-based Global Communication Services Holdings – a subsidiary of Maxis – sought approval for an investment of US dollars 800 million in telecom firm Aircel.

The approval should have come from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, which is headed by the Prime Minister. But it came from the finance ministry, which was then headed by Chidambaram. The finance ministry is only empowered to approve investments of sums up to Rs 600 crore.

The CBI alleged that after the approval was received, Aircel Televentures Limited paid Rs 26 lakh to a company linked to Karti Chidambaram. In September last year, the ED had attached assets worth Rs 1.16 crore belonging to him and a firm allegedly linked to him in connection with this case.

Chidambaram has already been protected from arrest by the court till August 7, as the court extended his anticipatory bail for the third time a few days ago. He has denied all the charges, and called the case against him a witch-hunt and a mixture of conjecture and falsehoods.
