NSS, University Institute of Engineering & technology (UIET), Panjab University, Chandigarh successfully hosted a webinar on Armed Forces Flag Day today, to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought on our borders to safeguard the country’s honour. The event was organised to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit mahotsav (AKAM) under the theme of achievements@75 (defence@75).
Volunteer Ankita Semwal gave a brief Presentation on the Armed Forces Flag Day to make the students aware about the significance of this day.
Major DP Singh shared their spine-tingling experiences and filled the atmosphere with flavours of patriotism. He gave his personal warfare experience and motivated the volunteers with his valour and courage. Famously known as Indian Blade Runner, Major DP Singh shared his achievements and proved to be an epitome of inspiration for the volunteers.
The event was held in the presence of Programme Officer Dr. Shankar Sehgal (Programme Officer-NSS UIET), Prof. Ashwani Kaul (Patron) and Dr. Vivek Kumar, Dr. Naveen Kumar and the event was managed by student coordinators- Tryammbak Kansal, Taha Ali Khan and Ganga Batra.
The event also had an interactive session of defence enthusiasts. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vivek Kumar.

She shared her experience of drills with NSS students and motivated for the future parades. She also told to do karma only and to forget the past. Her interaction mesmerized all the NSS volunteers. Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security graced the occasion. The officials displayed their solidarity with the Armed Forces by carrying the flags on them and by making a generous contribution towards Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.

24 नवंबर को राष्ट्रीय बाल अधिकार संरक्षण आयोग (एनसीपीसीआर) के अध्यक्ष प्रियांक कानूनगो ने विदिशा के डीएम को इस मामले में चिट्ठी लिखी थी। स्थानीय लोगों की शिकायत के बाद उन्होंने 31 अक्टूबर को आठ बच्चों को ईसाई धर्म में परिवर्तित करने का आरोप लगाया था। हालांकि, स्कूल के प्रिंसिपल ने धर्मांतरण के आरोप का खंडन किया था और इसे फर्जी खबर बताया था। सोमवार को हंगामा होने पर एसपी और कलेक्टर मौके पर पहुंचे और कार्यकर्ताओं को समझाइश दी। एसपी मोनिका शुक्ला ने बताया कि मामले की जांच के बाद कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

मध्य प्रदेश के विदिशा जिले के एक मिशनरी स्कूल में दक्षिणपंथी हिंदू संगठनों के कार्यकर्ताओं के तोड़फोड़ करने का मामला सामने आया है। इस मामले के सामने आये ही गृह मंत्री नरोत्तम मिश्रा का बयान भी सामने आया है। जी दरअसल उन्होंने आज यानी मंगलवार को कहा कि ‘सरकार को धर्म परिवर्तन की गतिविधियों में शामिल लोगों की जांच करवा रहे है। हालांकि इस मामले में 4 लोग गिरफ्तार हुए है।’
मध्य प्रदेश के विदिशा स्थित एक स्कूल में कथित धर्मांतरण को लेकर हिंदू संगठनों के विरोध प्रदर्शन की खबर है। आरोप है कि सेंट जोसेफ स्कूल में नारेबाजी, तोड़फोड़ और पत्थरबाजी की गई। घटना 6 दिसंबर 2021 (सोमवार) की है जब स्कूल में 12वीं की परीक्षा हो रही थी। आक्रोशित लोगों ने स्कूल मैनेजमेंट पर कार्रवाई की माँग की है। हालाँकि विश्व हिन्दू परिषद ने किसी भी हिंसक घटना से इनकार किया है।
इसी स्कूल ने पहले भी भारत माता की जय बोलने पर 31 छात्रों को सज़ा दी थी और अपने संगठन का मुद्दा बताया था। नामली कस्बे में स्थित सेंट जोसफ कॉन्वेंट स्कूल में पिछले दिनों (शुक्रवार) 9वीं कक्षा के 31 बच्चों को जमीन पर बैठाया गया और उन्हें परीक्षा देने से वंचित कर दिया गया। स्थानीय लोगों का आरोप है कि बच्चों ने एसेंबली में ‘भारत माता की जय’ का घोष किया था, जिससे उन्हें परीक्षा से वंचित किया गया।
मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक हिन्दू संगठनों ने स्कूल के अंदर 8 छात्रों के धर्मान्तरण का आरोप लगाया है। इस संबंध में प्रशासन को ज्ञापन भी दिया गया है। पुलिस पूरे मामले की जाँच कर रही है। साथ ही तोड़फोड़ करने वालों पर IPC के तहत केस भी दर्ज किया गया है। पुलिस अधिकारी (SDOP) भारत भूषण शर्मा ने यह जानकारी मीडिया को दी।
स्कूल प्रशासन ने खुद पर लगे सभी आरोपों को नकारा है। स्कूल के प्रिंसिपल ने इसको 2 समुदायों के बीच दूरी पैदा करने की साजिश बताया। इस घटना के लिए उन्होंने कुछ यूट्यूब चैनलों की खबरों को जिम्मेदार ठहराया। कर्मचारियों की सुरक्षा की माँग करते हुए झूठी खबर चलाने वालों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की माँग की है। स्कूल के मैनेजर ब्रदर एंथोनी ने पुलिस पर पर्याप्त सुरक्षा नहीं देने का आरोप लगाया है। उनके मुताबिक, “सिर्फ 2 पुलिसकर्मी मौके पर मौजूद थे। जिन 8 बच्चों के धर्मान्तरण के आरोप पर हंगामा हुआ वे हमारे स्कूल के छात्र नहीं थे।”
विश्व हिन्दू परिषद ने हिंसा को नकारते हुए बताया कि स्कूल के अंदर कलावा तक पहनने से रोका जाता है। VHP कार्यकर्ता नीलेश अग्रवाल के मुताबिक स्कूल में बच्चों को तिलक लगाने से रोका जाता है। दूसरे धर्म के बच्चों से अन्य धर्मों की प्रार्थना करवाई जाती है। धर्मान्तरण के निशाने पर ख़ासतौर से गरीब बच्चों को रखा जाता है। उन्होंने कहा हम सप्ताह भर से इसके खिलाफ विरोध-प्रदर्शन कर रहे हैं।
याद रहें की 12 जुलाई 2016 में भी एक ईसाई स्कूल ने ऐसा ही किया था। मध्य प्रदेश के शहडोल जिले में एक मिशनरी स्कूल द्वारा छात्रों के भारत माता की जय के नारे लगाने पर पाबंदी लगाने का मामला सामने आया है। स्थानीय मीडिया के मुताबिक, स्कूल प्रशासन के इस फैसले के बाद बच्चों के पैरंट्स के बीच काफी नाराजगी है। उधर स्कूल का कहना है कि मैनेजमेंट के आदेश पर यह रोक लगाई गई है।
अहिरवार समाज संघ ने इस संबंध में 4 दिसंबर को विदिश के डीएम से शिकायत की थी। इसमें कहा गया है कि 8 हिंदू बच्चों का पानी छिड़क कर ईसाई धर्मांतरण कराया गया। स्कूल की आड़ में धर्मांतरण रैकेट चलाने का आरोप लगाया गया है। गौरतलब है कि इस स्कूल के खिलाफ 2018 में फीस नहीं देने पर एक हिंदू छात्र को प्रताड़ित करने का आरोप लगाते हुए ABVP ने प्रशासन से शिकायत की थी।

Dr. Jainarayan, Incharge Discipline from provided information on the Anti-Ragging Act, he also told about Dos and don’ts of the college campus. Prof. Vandita Sharma,Dr. Renu Rishi,Dr. Sajjan Singh, Dr.Vineeta Gupta,Prof. Advitya Khurana,Prof. BG Kapur,Prof. Naveen Jangra,Dr. Jitender Arya, Dr. Chitra Singh,Dr. Rakesh Pathak, Dr. Parvesh, Dr. Yamini discussed the college’s various cultural – sports activities, tutorials, NCC, NSS, Youth Red Cross, scholarship schemes, career guidance,bus pass, legal literacy, and women cell etc. All the incharges of various Cells had a thorough discussion with the students.
DIKSHA was formed in the college with the goal of familiarising newly admitted students with the college’s various activities and making them aware of the disciplinary guidelines in Keeping COVID precautions in mind, this year Diksha was organised online for the students . A One day Webinar was organized by Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) Panjab University, Chandigarh to commemorate the Mahaprinirvan Diwas of Baba Saheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, today by Ms.Kenu Agarwal Vice President, Community in Transition USA.
Prof. Ashok Kumar, Director, CSSEIP and Professor in Hindi talked about importance of changing mindset of people to change the society and shared the significance of this day very elaborately by paying homage to father of our Constitution and remembering works of Baba Saheb Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.
The session was moderated by Dr.Kanchan Chandan, teaching faculty, CSSEIP. She stressed on following the ideology of Dr.B.R. Ambedkar, to bring the necessary change, for an unbiased and egalitarian society, and upliftment of the oppressed.
Ms.Kenu Agrawal in her lecture discussed how Babasaheb Dr. B.R.Ambedkar championed the cause of women as well as the miserable plight of Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes throughout his career and discussed a number of problems of Indian women and sought for their solution. She insisted on the way baba sahib looked upon law as the instrument of creating a sane social order in which the development of individual should be in harmony with the growth of society. As issue related to women inequality are global they are not only confined to Indian society. She further added that only Government Machineries or policies can’t be enough, people have to come forward individually with changed mindset to achieve the goal of gender equality and women empowerment.
Prof. Ashok Kumar, Director CSSEIP extended vote of thanks and concluded by emphasizing, that women should themselves come forward to grab their rights and get hold of representative positions in all walks of life for a new and progressive India. It will lead to intellectual empowerment of masses.

The Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with ThreadBee, a local NGO which is working for the upliftment of the special children, organized an exhibition of paintings and artifacts by artists with special abilities today, on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities titled “Nuances”, the subtle art of hidden expressions.
Professor S. K. Tomar, Dean Research and Dean Student Welfare, inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of Dr. Manish Sharma, Chairperson of Gandhian Studies, Professor Ravinder Sharma from the College of Art, Sh. Vikram Singh, Chief of University Security and the artists.
Dr. Manish Sharma, emphasized that the motive of organzing this special exhibition is to highlight that these so-called special children are as good as normal children. He said though they can’t hear or understand our thoughts but they can express their feeling through different modes like paintings, sculptures and so on.
Prof. S. K. Tomar emphasised that such exhibition should be held regularly and it’s a good way to showcase the talent of these children with special abilities. He congratulated the Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies and ThreedBee for carrying out such activities. He further added that we are all disable in one way or the other, but how we come out of the same and develop our abilities depends on individual approach and will power.
Professor Ravinder Sharma from the College of Art and one of the mentors of the students emphasized that these students are no doubt different than others, but most of the time they work through their sixth sense, which is a motivational and guiding force for them to come out of their dark shells.
In the end, Livia Tandon thanked all the invited guests and participants for their active participation and encouragement. According to her, the word “Disability” should be removed from the dictionary since technology has now helped us to overcome most of our sensory and ductile limitations.
Dr. Manish informed that in the exhibition total 12 students are participating with their paintings, mixed media photographs and sculptures. While participating in the exhibition, some of the students mentioned:
Mr. Harmanpreet mentioned that, “I am a differently-abled artist with a Master’s in fine arts. I am currently working with Coloredrims, which is revolutionising the gifting sector. I paint to express, to remember where I have been, what I have seen. It is my way to connect to the world without my disability limiting me. The contrast of light and dark has been a major component for most my artwork. My intent is to give my audience a reason to connect with my artwork and stay for a second look. I am lucky to share some of artwork with you and request you to help me reach more people.
Jasleen Kaur mentioned, “I was born deaf and dumb, but I can communicate using sign language. I received my M.F.A. in applied art from Government College of Art, Chandigarh, with an advanced specialisation in fine arts for dissabled. I worked in photography and graphic design as part of my master’s programme. I hand-drew a variety of commercial ads. I’m excited to create commercials with a larger canvas. Through efficient advertising, we can raise awareness among the general public. I’d like to contribute by typing so that my work might reach a wider audience and effect positive change. I’d want to dabble in a few applied art methods. I want to make my parents proud.”
Pallavi mentioned, “I am passionate for painting since childhood and as a result currently I completed my M.F. A (Advanced special diploma in fine arts for divyang ) from Government college of art, Chandigarh. As a painting enthusiast, I attended different workshops on painting and every time I improve myself. I have won various certificates and secured top ranks in competitions and exhibitions. This time also let’s hope for the best.
Muskaan Sohar mentioned, “I am doing my mastery in applied art from Government college of Fine Arts I have Participated in many exhibitions and also won so many prizes One of my work was also selected as a bronze on international level I want to create many more works and would like to share with all.”
Pankaj Sharma mentioned that she completed her Masters of Fine Arts in Graphics (Advanced Diploma in Print Making) from Government College of Art, Chandigarh. “During my master program I have worked in many mediums such as Etching, Aquatint, Serigraphy, Wood Cut, Stencil Printing, Lithography and Colligraphy along with Water Colour and Miniature paintings. My work was mostly based on my connection with my surroundings and now I am seeking for job/exhibitions to find a balance and harmony in my works and needs. Sir I am a specially abled person with hearing disability seeking for a job/exhibition & if I am lucky enough to get a chance to get my work exhibitive in an international virtual exhibition, it’ll be a great opportunity for me.
Arti Kaushal, mentioned, “Right now I am doing Masters study in Applied art from Government college of fine art, Chandigarh. I like doing painting and photography scene I know art. I learned painting by myself. I participated in college exhibitions.”
The exhibition will remain open till 10th December, 2021 in the Gandhi Bhawan. The timings for the exhibition are from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2pm to 5pm.

Continuing in its legacy of excellence, UIPS recently procured a magnanimous grant of Rs 1 Crore under Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) from a multinational pharmaceutical company, M/s Mylan Laboratories Limited, facilitated by its alumni, Mr Rajiv Malik, President, Viatris, USA and Mr Sanjeev K Sethi, Chief Operating Officer, Viatris/Mylan, India. This is the highest grant received under CSR by Panjab University.
The grant will be utilized in establishing state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, procurement of sophisticated instruments and for generation of other facilities at UIPS, which will go a long way in accelerating the already upward growing graph of UIPS. This is defined under an agreement signed between the Company and Registrar, Panjab University. Professor Indu Pal Kaur, Chairperson UIPS, attributes continuous accomplishments of UIPS to the cohesiveness, hard work and persistent efforts of the globally acclaimed faculty colleagues, alumni and dedication of students.

On the occasion of International Day of Person with Disabilities, Para Sports Meet was held in Panjab University which was organized by Equal Opportunity Cell for Person with disabilities and sports department of PU in collaboration with Saksham Chandigarh, Department of community education and disability studies and PGI differently abled employees union. The event was inaugurated by Prof. V. R. Sinha, Dean University Instruction (DUI), Panjab University and Prof. Latika along with others. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ramesh Kataria (Coordinator, EOC PwDs) and Dr. Rakesh Malik (Deputy Director, Department of Sports, PU Chd. Mr. Giriraj Singh, paralympian Athens, 2004, Deputy Director, Department of Sports and Youth Affair, Government of Haryana was the Patron of the event. Mr. Ravi Kumar Secretary Saksham, Punjab Mr. Pankaj Kumar, Mr. Satyaveer Dagur, Mr. Satish Kumar, Mr. Jala Ram, Mr. Om Prakash from PGI Chd. In this event, players from PGGCG, DAV-10, and Institute for blind, Sector 26 and Panjab University actively participated in Cricket, Shot put and 100m race. The participation was equal by both girls and boys in B1, B2 and B3 categories. Participants were really very happy and cheerful throughout the event. Their confidence and capabilities inspired everyone to believe that they are not disable but talentedly able. Their support for each other was commendable. Everyone present at the event was spell bound by the singing performance of Pawan and other participants. All the participants told that they had great experience and exposure. Rohit told us that he liked the facilities provided during the event. Kashish and Pooja thanked the organizing committee and loved the event; Ritik had great experience and told “we can do what others can do”. The certificates and medals were distributed by Prof. Ashok Kumar, Associate Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Anuradha and Prof. Navleen Kaur from PU, to the winners. Cricket match was won by PU11 team against Saksahm team. In last Dr. Kataria thanked Vice-Chancellor of the Panjab University, for providing facilities for the successful completion of the event.

गोस्वामी गणेश दत्ता सनातन धर्म कॉलेज, सेक्टर 32, चंडीगढ़ ने यहां सेक्टर 46 स्थित गवर्नमेंट पोस्ट ग्रेजुएट कालेज परिसर में संपन हुए ‘पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी जोनल यूथ एंड हेरिटेज फेस्टिवल 2021’ में लगातार सातवें वर्ष भी ओवरऑल ट्रॉफी जीत कर अपना दबदबा बनाये रखा। कॉलेज की छात्राओं और छात्रों ने जोनल यूथ एंड हेरिटेज फेस्टिवल में असाधारण प्रतिभा और रचनात्मक कौशल का प्रदर्शन किया। इस दौरान करवाई गई विभिन प्रतियोगिताओं में कालेज की बीकॉम (फाइनल वर्ष) की छात्रा नमन संगर और बीकॉम (पहला वर्ष) की छात्रा अनन्य पूरी ने कोलाज मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता में पहला स्थान हांसिल किया। इसके इलावा छात्रों ने प्रश्नोत्तरी में प्रथम पुरस्कार, कविता लेखन में प्रथम पुरस्कार, अंग्रेजी हस्तलेखन में द्वितीय पुरस्कार, विरासत प्रश्नोत्तरी में द्वितीय पुरस्कार, वाद-विवाद, भाषण, पंजाबी और हिंदी हस्तलेखन प्रतियोगिता में तीसरा पुरस्कार प्राप्त करके अकादमिक कौशल का प्रदर्शन किया। कालेज के प्राचार्य डॉ अजय शर्मा ने प्रतिभागियों द्वारा इस ‘पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी जोनल यूथ एंड हेरिटेज फेस्टिवल 2021’ प्रदर्शित अनुकरणीय प्रदर्शन की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि यह कॉलेज के उद्देश्य को दर्शाता है, जो छात्रों के समग्र विकास को बढ़ावा देना है। डॉ अजय शर्मा ने इस फेस्टिवल को लेकर बहुत कम समय के अंतराल पर छात्रों को इस प्रतियोगिता के लिए तैयार करने के लिए अपने स्टाफ टीम के प्रयासों की सराहना की। उन्होंने सांस्कृतिक और पाठ्येतर गतिविधियों के महत्व पर भी जोर दिया और जोनल यूथ एंड हेरिटेज फेस्टिवल में भाग लेने वाले विजेताओं का मनोबल बढ़ाया।
