Interactive session on media ethics at SCS, PU

            Kanwar Sandhu, Member of Legislative Assembly from Kharar constituency of Punjab delivered an interactive section to the students of School of Communication Studies(SCS), Panjab University, Chandigarh.

            “Questions about the issue of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab need much wider discussion.” says, Kanwar Sandhu when answering the questions from students. Kanwar Sandhu believes adherence and non-adherence to ethics has always been a major issue in the media industry. He even stated to report what one sees and do not get bogged down by political pressure.

            Sandhu did not subscribe to the idea of reporting when one is in doubt about any news or any subject. He mentioned that he reported from conflict zones and journalism is one of the toughest professions in the world. Professor Jayanth N. Pethkar of School of Communication Studies, recalled Sandhu’s contribution to the field of journalism and politics. Sandhu in his concluding remarks proposed the students to do something for the society and encouraged youngsters to join politics while the older people should retire from getting political mileage.   

            Kanwar Sandhu was the former editor of The Tribune, The Indian Express and Hindustan Times and Day and Night news channel. He did his bachelor in journalism from School of Communication Studies earlier known as Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. He encouraged the students to be compassionate and always have document state of mind. He picked up several instances from his life when he was reporting for several media houses.
