PratigyaPatra: Swaraj India’s Madhu Anand reveals vision to transform Panchkula

DATE: 12/10/2019

MadhuAnand, Panchkula candidate of Swaraj India, held a press conference at the party office in Sector-6, Panchkula. With members of the party including ShaliniMalviya, Shailendra Kumar, and Pardeep Tiwari, Anand revealed the PratigyaPatra(election promises) of her candidature and shed light on the plans laid out for the development of Panchkula.

PratigyaPatrahighlights premier issues of the region such as jobs, education, health, colonies, civic amenities, and public security. This has been devised on the basis of the regular meetings of Anand with different sections of society and city in the previous months. With the aim to improve the prevailing conditions, Anand is looking to transform Panchkula into something bigger than just a satellite city of Chandigarh.

MadhuAnandstated that PratigyaPatra is not just another manifesto. It is an attempt to highlight the key issues of Panchkula along with their suggested, solution-centric framework. For instance, targeting the health sector, she said that there is only one government hospital in Panchkula, which is facing overcrowding issues. Anand added that the party will aim to build another hospital and strive to increase the number of doctors and machinery in the existing facility.

ShaliniMalviya expressed that rural Panchkula is in dire need of development and a voice that falls on the ears of the government. Previously, various manifestos have highlighted the same issue, but there has been negligible progress. Rather, these issues have become a veil for public money theft as crores sanctioned for issues like the improvement of primary schools, etc, remain unaccounted.

Emphasizing on the issues specific to rural regions, Anand said that she aims to improve the condition of the farmers by ensuring that they receive at least 1.5 times of their total cost of production for the sale of their crops. Furthermore, she would ensure that the government makes a separate functional body to address he compensation issues in an event of crop destruction.

Colonies and slums are not only deprived of basic services such as water pipes, health, hygiene, etc, but they continue to live in the fear of getting demolished, said Tiwari. The Pradhan MantriAawasYojana has an underlying philosophy of better housing. However, this is based on the in situ development of such colonies and it is being violated to the extent of forced removal of people from the city. Along with this, drugs, domestic violence, and increasing student dropout rates continue to impact countless lives.

Identifying the link between common issues, MadhuAnand added that the increasing number ofdropouts can be associated with increasing drug abuse, which, in turn, has a direct impact on the safety of women and senior citizens. To tackle this prolonged issue from its roots, the party would ensure that no liquor shop is established in a locality without the permission of women along with strong steps to curb the rising influence of drugs on the youth.
