Eligible candidates (with at least 50% marks in 10+2 with English as compulsory subject) are advised to send the filled application form through registered /speed post/ by hand to the Director, University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Sector -14, Panjab University, Chandigarh 160014. The last date for application is 15th July 2019 till 4 PM.

Two Days Training of Trainers at PU

            On World Population Day, Population Research Centre, Panjab University Chandigarh is organizing a Two Days Training of Trainers on new portal of Health Management Information System (HMIS) from July, 11-12, 2019 at ICSSR seminar hall. The objective of the training is to strengthen the capacity of National Health Mission staff. About 60 participants from different fields like Medical, Management, Public Health, and Social Sciences from state of Punjab and Chandigarh are participating in this training. Experts from World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India will train the trainers on new indicators of the HMIS.  The Vice chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar will inaugurate.

Chandigarh July 10, 2019

            The Department of Geography, Panjab University, Chandigarh has been awarded a prestigious collaborative research project tilted “Capacity Building for Policy and Planning in Kenya, Tanzania and India: A Focus on Food Systems and Urban Growth Management” under the Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships Program.  The project carries an award of CAN $298,000 (more than Rs. 1.5 crore). The project is in partnership with the University of Fraser Valley Abbotsford Canada, University of Nairobi, Kenya and Ardhi University, Dar – es – Salaam, Tanzania.  Under this project, 4 students from the Department of Geography will visit Canada for 3 months each over 2 years starting from September 2019 until Summer 2021 and their visit and stay will be fully funded under the project. The Coordinator of the project is Prof. Dhian Kaur of Department of Geography.  Dr. Simrat Kahlon, Chairperson of the Department is also involved in the project.

9th Civil-Military Liaison Conference Chandigarh -2019

The 9th Civil Military Liaison Conference was held today under the Chairmanship of the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore.

The meeting started with the welcome address by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh who emphasized that Civil and Military authorities are two wheels of a cart, which move together in the service of the nation. Further, Army Commander, Headquarter Western Command Lt. Gen. Surinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM**, VSM shared that overwhelming support has been received from Chandigarh Administration on the different matters of concern, and the officials have been supporting in resolving the matters of mutual concern.

The Administrator presiding over the conference, emphasized that the primary objective of the conference is to advice, devise and innovate and to ensure better coordination and liaison between the Armed Forces and the Civilian Authorities.

Further, the Administrator expressed his satisfaction over the action taken by Chandigarh Administration pertaining to the conversion of Welfare Housing Organization (AWHO) land in sector-44 A Chandigarh from lease to free hold, identification of posts reserved for ex-servicemen and general upkeep and maintenance of Service Married Quater areas in Sector 31 and Sector 47 etc.

 During the meeting, various ongoing matters were also discussed with the Western Command including demolition of unauthorised construction around Air Force Station, Connectivity of Chandigarh to International Airport and foliage/vegetation and drainage clearance near Behlana gate of Air Force Station, Chandigarh etc.

Other proposals put forward by the Western Command included compliance of Punjab Ex Servicemen Rules 1982 for recruitment in Chandigarh Police, re-designation of Zila Sainik Welfare Office Chandigarh as Department of Sainik Welfare etc. The Chandigarh Administration assured that these matters will be examined and taken up on priority.

Further, the Chandigarh Administration also requested Western Command to share their expertise in the upgradation of War Memorial, Sector-3, Chandigarh, training of the police personnel of Chandigarh Administration by the military authorities regarding use of latest arms and ammunitions, disaster management etc.

Among the other dignitaries present on the occasion were Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, DGP UT Chandigarh.

Durga Shakti team aware women and children

The Durga Shakti team of WPS sector 5 Panchkula under the guidance of ACP Nupur Bishnoi , in collaboration with NGO ‘s Nanhe Kadam and The Pink Foundation held an awareness drive at Kharak Mangoli ( Gate no:4) . Almost 50 women and children from these slums who learned skill development along with other residents of this area were made aware about the Durga Shakti app as well as the numbers 1091 and 181.

Renu Goyal and Renu Mathur from NGO Nanhe Kadam and Jasneet and Saaniya Sharma from The Pink Foundation along with volunteers Sonu Virdi and Lavleen Gautam worked with the Durga Shakti team for this campaign.–

A case FIR No. 149, U/S 295-A, 380 IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. Later one person namely Sandeep @ Vicky R/o # 1189, Rajiv Colony, Sector-17, Panchkula (HR) has been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Criminal breach of trust

Sourab Pal R/o # 1217 Deep Complex Hallo Majra, Chandigarh reported that two unknown person taken complainant’s mobile phone for making call but after some time they took away his mobile phone near Kali Bari light point, Chandigarh on night intervening 07/08-07-2019. A case FIR No. 195, U/S 406 IPC has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A case FIR No. 83, U/S 279, 337 IPC has been registered in PS-49, Chandigarh on the statement of Harjinder Singh R/o Village Gadri Pet, Teh. Samrala Distt. Ludhiana (PB) (Driver No. CTD33) who alleged that driver of car No. CH-01BA-4705 namely Parnav R/o # 47, Sec-5, Chandigarh (age- 21 yrs) hit to Punjab Roadways Bus No. PB-10FF-5232 at Light Point, Sec-45/46/49/50, Chandigarh on 09.07.2019. Alleged person namely Parnav arrested and bailed out. Investigation of the case is in progress.

A person resident of Village Burail, Chandigarh reported that his daughter age about 17 years has been missing from near her residence since 06/07.07.2019. आज भारतीय जनता युवा मोर्चा की एक अहम बैठक मोर्चा के जिला अध्यक्ष योगेन्द्र शर्मा की अध्यक्षता में बरवाला मंडल के गांव मटेवाली में संपन हुई। सदस्यता अभियान में युवा मोर्चा की भूमिका को लेकर हुई इस बैठक में भाजपा बरवाला मंडल के अध्यक्ष सुशील सिंगला, महामंत्री बलबीर शर्मा व अमरीक विषेष तौर पर उपस्थित रहे।
योगेन्द्र शर्मा ने बैठक के पश्चात जानकारी देते हुए बताया कि आज प्रदेश में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की लोकप्रियता दिन-प्रतिदिन बढ़ रही है। भाजपा की विचारधारा और सरकार की पारदर्शी कामकाज करने की बदौलत ही प्रदेश के युवा तथा अन्य दलों के नेता भी लगातार इसमें आस्था जता रहे है। 
आज बरवाला के गांव मटेवाली में भी भाजपा की विचारधारा से प्रभावित होकर दर्जनों युवाओं ने भाजपा युवा मोर्चा का दामन थामा।भाजयुमो की सदस्यता ग्रहण करने वालों में जगदीष, गौरव, जोनी, गुरमीत, जस्सी, मनीष, गुदरेव, बंटी, गुरविन्द्र, दीपू, लक्की, जसबीर, अषोक, एवं सोनू शामिल रहे। 

योगेन्द्र शर्मा ने कहा कि जो युवा भाजयुमो के सदस्य बने  है उनका भाजपा परिवार में स्वागत है तथा उनको पार्टी में पूर्ण मान सम्मान दिया जाएगा। इस अवसर पर युवा मोर्चा के महामंत्री संदीप यादव व गौतम राणा, युवा मोर्चा बरवाला के मंडल अध्यक्ष परमजीत राणा, उमेष बसंल इत्यादि कार्यकर्ता उपस्थित थे।
