Anti Leprosy Day is being celebrated as Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign – SLAC during fortnight beginning from 30th Nov Jan to till 13 Feb 2019 under programme by Department of Health and family welfare ministry of Health, Govt. of India. The different activities and awareness programme about leprosy will be held under this programme.
In continuation of these SLAC activities during the fortnight a lecture demonstration was organized by Dr. Pushpinder Mangat, SMO at Police Hospital, Sector 26, Chandigarh, today. An interesting talk on leprosy was given by Dr. Manjit Pal, Skin Specialist, GMSH-16 to cover the basic courses, reasons for spread and methodologies to prevent the outbreak of the disease. Various posters and banners were used to spread awareness on leprosy. The populace was encouraged to treat patients with compassion and to adopt proper intervention to facilitate its eradication. The camp was attended by approximately 225 police personnel and their families.
