Haryana Police is running 22 Public Schools with 16000 students studying there
DGP agreed to start and fund a Chair in Panjab University

                        Sh.B.S. Sandhu, IPS,DGP Haryana visited Panjab University, Chandigarh  for an interactive meeting with Professor Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University and other senior faculty members, here today .

                        PU VC and the DGP agreed that various Departments of PU like Defence Studies, Police Administration, Human Rights, Forensic Science, Woman Studies, UIET, Hotel and Management, Dental College   and Haryana Police can have collaboration in terms of cyber security, student internship and training, running short term programmes for police people, and conducting need based research studies. Possibilities for Tourist Police Station was also discussed apart from collaboration w.r.t patient care through Mobile Dental Van of PU Dental College for the 65 students in Panchkula school of Police line.

                        DGP shared that Haryana Police is running 22 Public Schools with 16000 students studying there. He discussed in details the issue related to women safety in the State of Haryana and requested Panjab University to do a special project for Haryana Police with respect to women protection. He also assured of stipend to research scholars for doing internship related to these projects. The DGP urged PU to enhance the professionalism in Police Forces and said that on the basis of various proposals from PU, MoU in this regard can be signed.

                        The Vice-Chancellor asked the DGP to start and fund a Chair in Panjab University, which DGP readily agreed.

                         Prof. Shankarji Jha, DUI, Prof. Karamjit Singh, Registrar, Prof. Ashwani Kaul, CUS,  Prof. Devinder Singh, SVC, Chairpersons and representatives from Departments of Defence Studies and National Security Studies, Police Administration, Forensic Science and Criminology, Human Rights and Duties, UIET, Women Studies,  Social Work and Laws.
