Chandigarh, January 7,2019: Former AAP leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira who resigned from the party recently on Sunday said that he will not resign from the post of MLA.
He said that he was being attacked by members of AAP, “but I am not going to resign from the post of legislative member. Those who have problem with me being an MLA could approach the speaker of legislative assembly”. He added that those criticizing him should learn about anti-defection law.
Khaira during a press conference at his home said that he has support of six other party MLAs who could also resign from the party.
Khaira also lashed out at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and said that he was “a dictator who did not want anyone else to lead the party”.
It is expected that Khaira will launch his own party on January 8 with the name Punjabi Ekta Party. A meeting of Khaira with leaders of Punjab Democratic Alliance will be held at Ludhiana to announce the names off those contesting in LS polls on January 11-12.
Khaira informed that Master Baldev Singh will soon resign from AAP and will be the LS election candidate from Faridkot representing Khaira’s party.
