Chandigarh, January 7,2019: After Sukhpal Singh Khaira and HS Phoolka resigned from the party recently, Aam Aadmi Party is finding new partners in Punjab ahead of Lok Sabha polls scheduled in April-May this year.
Member Parliament from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann reached Amritsar to meet the leaders of newly formed Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) who are already into talks with Sukhpal Singh Khaira for an alliance in the state. The new party could dent the vote-bank of SAD (Badal) from which it broke away recently.
While no details of the meeting were so far out, it has been learnt that AAP was now desperate to form an alliance in Punjab after the exit of senior leaders leaving the workers disappointed and discouraged.
Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday announced that Congress would not enter into an alliance with AAP in Punjab leaving fewer options for the latter.
The three leaders of SAD (Taksali) including Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Ratan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan had already stated that they would form an alliance with a party having similar ideology.
