Chandigarh Police organized 1st Vishal Sharma Memorial Cricket Championship -2018

1st Vishal Sharma Memorial Cricket Championship -2018 has been organized by Chandigarh Police at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh.

Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG/UT inaugurated the opening ceremony at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh.  

This Cricket Tournament is being organized in the memory of Late SI Vishal Sharma of Chandigarh Police who was the captain of Chandigarh Police Cricket Team. Under his captainship Chandigarh Police has won many tournaments & trophies. He served in various important posts like I/C PP Lake, I/C PP Dhanas, & LO traffic etc. He was judged all round best probationer in the year 1996. Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG UT paid tribute to Late SI Vishal Sharma by offering flowers. During this occasion family of Late SI Vishal Sharma was also present.

In this championship total 8 teams are participating – CRPF, CBI, IB, Media, HDFC, UT Employees, High Court and Chandigarh Police.

Match Summaries

Today on 21.12.2018, three opening matches of this Cricket Tournament were played at the grounds of Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh and Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh.

 1^st Match was played between Chandigarh Police and Chandigarh Press Club at Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh. Chandigarh Press Club won the toss & elected to bat first against Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Press Club scored 79 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs match. Naveen Tyagi added 39 runs (4 Fours) in 42 balls. For the Bowling side of Chandigarh Police, Kapil Punia, Ramandeep & Balwinder Senior grabbed 2 wickets each.

Chandigarh Police achieved the target in 12.4 over’s, and scored 81 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Kapil Punia added 39 runs (7 Fours) in 31 balls & Vikas Rathee contributed 20 runs (4 fours) in 16 balls for the Team. Chandigarh Police won the match in captainship of DSP Rajeev Ambasta.

Kapil Puniya from Chandigarh Police judged as Man of the Match for scoring 39 runs & taking 2 wickets.

2^nd Match was played between HDFC Vs UT Employees at grounds of DAV College Sector 10, Chandigarh. UT Employees won the toss and scored total 165 runs in 20 over’s by batting first with the best contribution of Parabhjot Singh 48 runs and Mandeep Singh 28 runs in first inning. From the batting side of HDFC Rishab made 24 runs for his team while chasing the total. HDFC team made 116 runs and all out in 20 overs.  UT Employees won the match. Anurag from UT Employees judged as Man of the Match in this match.

3^rd Match was played between CRPF Vs IB at grounds of DAV College Sector 10, Chandigarh. IB won the toss and scored total 167/8 runs in 20 over’s by batting first with the best contribution of Gautam Rajput 66 runs and Santosh Kumar 30 runs in first inning. From bowling side of CRPF Sh. Nishar Mohd. (Commandant CRPF) took 3 wickets in 4 over’s. From the batting side of CRPF Nishar Mohd. (Commandant CRPF) made 29 runs and Vivek made 18 runs for his team while chasing the total. CRPF made 138 runs and all out in 20 overs.  IB won the match. Gautam Rajput from IB judged as Man of the Match in this match.
