36 hour fast, the first arghya given to Sun God, the Chhath vrat is specially considered auspicious for women aspiring son

Special arrangements had been made by the Purvanchal Organizing Committee for the Chhath festival on the pond located in Maloya. During the festival, devotees who had fasted started thronging from two o’clock in the afternoon. Most of the women’s came here singing from their houses singing the Chathi Maai and Suraj Dev’s songs. A large crowd gathered by four o’clock in the evening. Meanwhile, almost all the roads in the surrounding areas, including Maloa, remained resonant with Chhath’s songs. Nearly thousands of pilgrims from all corners and villages around Maloa, Dadu Majra, Sector 39, Jujharanagar and villages and people from all corners of the village reached there to give the first half of Chhath. Ram babu, chief secretary of Purvanchal organization committee, general secretary Sanjay Bihari, chairman Kedar Yadav, KP Singh, Rahul Verma, Shivnath, Subhash, Shatbughan, Ranjit and other members congratulated all the fasting women for Chhath Puja. In order to give offering to the sun , people raised Prasad and lamp in the hands and bowed down to Lord Bhaskar and wished for prosperity and worshiped chath mai with Lord Sun.
