Khaira announces 15 member JAC for Kotkapura to Bargari march on October 7

Chandigarh, September 27, 2018:

Leader of rebel AAP group Sukhpal Khaira on Thursday announced a 15 member Joint Action Committee (JAC) to prepare for the protest march from Kotkapura to Bargari on October 7.

In a statement, Khaira said that the first meeting of the JAC will take place at Faridkot on September 29 to finalise the programme. The decision to set up the JAC had been taken at an “all-party” meeting held at Chandigarh on September. 21.

Khaira criticised Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal for announcing rallies at Lambi and Patiala allegedly to torpedo the proposed October 7 protest march, seeking justice for the desecration of Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji and killing of two Sikh youth at Behbal Kalan on October  14, 2015 in police firing.

He alleged that Captain Amarinder Singh and the Badals were hand in glove to deny justice on the vital issue of desecration and killing of two Sikh youth both now planned rallies to divert attention of people from the proposed protest march, he added.

Khaira said that October 7 will be a litmus test of all right-thinking Punjabis and the Sikhs, whether they should attend the Lambi and Patiala rallies or Kotkapura protest programme.

Case registered against the abducted women by Punjab Police

The police booked Kaur and 7-8 others from her family and village on charges of attacking a police team and damaging their vehicle.

Amritsar, Sep 27, 2018 –  Even as a case was registered against a woman who fell from a speeding Punjab Police vehicle’s roof after she was allegedly forced to sit there, villagers in Amritsar district protested on Thursday against the police “high-handedness”.

The protesters from Shehzada and adjoining villages blocked a road near the village and demanded action against the erring police officials.

Jaswinder Kaur, aged around 35, of Shehzada village was caught on CCTV while falling from the police jeep’s roof on September 25. The matter came to light after the footage emerged on the social media.

She received injuries on the head and wrist and was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Majitha town, nearly 245 km from here. She alleged that police drove her for a good three kilometers before she fell near Chawinda Devi area of Amritsar district.

The police booked Kaur and 7-8 others from her family and village on charges of attacking a police team and damaging their vehicle.

Police officials said that a case had also been registered against the Crime Branch team that went to Kaur’s house to arrest her father-in-law Kulwant Singh.

The police have also ordered an inquiry.

The protesters alleged that Punjab Police was shielding its erring personnel and indulging in high-handedness by registering a case against the victim.

While the woman accused police officials of forcibly putting her on the jeep bonnet and claimed she climbed on to the roof of the moving vehicle to save herself, police said she and other villagers had attacked the police team and even broken a windowpane of the vehicle.

The police claimed that the police team tried to drive away but the woman climbed the jeep bonnet to prevent them from doing so and later fell from its roof.

The woman alleged that she was forced on to the jeep roof by police as ‘punishment’ after she resisted an attempt to whisk away her husband.

The police team had gone to her house to arrest her father-in-law in connection with a property dispute. But as he was not at home, they wanted to take away her husband, the woman said.

A Pakistani boat reported to have entered the Indian territory

Ferozepur, September 27, 2018: A Pakistani boat reported to have entered the Indian territory, in view of rising level of water in Sutlej River near Nawan Kasso Ke Post.

As per the information, while the BSF jawans were patrolling in the creek area, the rising Sutlej River in Kandi area, a boat was seen floating and entering the Indian side which was taken out with the help of ropes.

Nothing objectionable reported having been recovered from inside neither the boat nor anything is written on it.  However, the BSF authorities are investigating into the matter.  Prima facie, the boat seems to have drifted into the India waters due to the heavy current of water in the river but it could not have been used to smuggle drugs.

Added here, earlier also during the last month, the Intelligence Wing of Ferozepur police had seized a Pakistan boat from Satluj near Ali Ke village, which appeared to be a fishing boat which had Mir Mubarak Ali Jaan’ engraved on it.
