INTERNATIONAL PHULKARI EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP AT UIFT, PU

Chandigarh November 23, 2021

            The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development(UIFT&VD) Panjab University, Chandigarh  organized an online on the history and technique of “Phulkari embroidery” in association with Thread Written, a Netherlands-based organisation that offers creative learning experiences in embroidery and traditional textiles through workshops, embroidery patterns, and travel retreats throughout the United States and Europe.

            Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson was the resource person. She shared her knowledge of Phulkari with the attendees. She discussed the history, stitches, designs, types, and styles of Phulkari, as well as how these have evolved over time. Following that, a hands-on demonstration of the embroidery technique was given. As a result, patterns and designs were offered in advance to participants so that they may practise and enjoy the skill and embroidery, while she gave a live demonstration of the technique of making Phulkari. She is also the author of book ‘Phulkari from Punjab: Embroidery in Transition’.

            Eleven people from all over the United States registered for the workshop and participated online.

Continuing Dental Education Programme Held at PU

Chandigarh November 22, 2021

            The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and General Surgery of Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Panjab University Chandigarh organized a a day long Continuing Dental Education(CDE) Programme on theme Medical emergencies in Dental Practice.

            The event was presided over by Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh and chaired by Prof. Hemant Batra, Principal-cum-Professor of the Institute and Dr. Satinder Gomber, ex-HOD Department of Anaesthesia, GMCH, sector-32 Chandigarh which was attended by 300 students and faculty of the Institute.

            The CDE Programme comprised of lectures delivered by an array of distinguished faculty members of the Institute with the main focus on providing knowledge and expertise to deal with medical emergencies in Dental Practice. Knowledge to deal with COVID-19 was also shared with the audience. Live demonstration on Basic Life Support was given by Dr. Harsimran Kaur Boparai and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh.            

Implementation of NEP 2020 Discussed at PU

 Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh hosted the Webinar Series-2 with Collaboration with State Institute for Rehabilitation, Training and Research (SIRTAR), Rohtak, Haryana, on the topic “Implementation of NEP 2020 with Respect to Inclusive Education” on November 20th,2021 under the Webinar series of 75th AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV. 
Prof. (Dr.) Navleen Kaur Chairperson, introduced the topic and extended warm welcome to  the resource person .
Dr. A.D. Paswan, Principal, SIRTAR talked about NEP – 2020 and Inclusive Education. The policy recommendations bring a sea change in the Indian education system and make restructuring the curriculum, and pedagogy of school’s education for student with special needs. He also mentioned that this policy is a quality-based education without any discrimination in any ground of the society. This policy also promoted the Divyangjan Friendly institution to assess the education in all levels, take admission for mild and moderate student with special needs in the inclusive education system.
 Around 80 participants like rehabilitation professionals, research scholars, students and other stakeholders attended the webinar. The skills learnt in this webinar can be utilized by them to enhance the learning capability of the students with special needs

PU DIC, UIET, Awarded STARTUP Grant

Chandigarh November 19, 2021

A 7 member student team from Design Innovation Centre(DIC), Panjab University has been funded Rs.5,50,000/- by MHRD, Institution’s Innovation Council(IIC) for developing a Filament Extruder Machine START-UP.

UIET is the only team from North India to have been funded, out of a total 131 teams across the country. IIC-Panjab University inspired a multi-disciplinary B.E. student team-Ishank Bansal(Team Lead), Shubham Rattra, Tanya Aggarwal, Sachin Singh, Navudhay Pratap Singh, Vivek Mishra and Sakshi Gandhi under the able mentorship of faculty members -Dr Prashant Jindal,  Dr Mamta Juneja and Dr Rakesh Tuli to develop this innovative product. This machine has been going through various design upgradations over the past 1 year in the Medical Devices & Restorative Technologies lab at DIC, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh 

This team competed in the 2nd edition of IIC-National Innovation Contest (2020) where the students from IIC-Institutes took part in this competition that was designed in a way where each team will traverse a path from problem identification and ideation to building business model and finally entering the phase of Enterprise development in a time period of one year process through multiple elimination rounds that were conducted in an online  mode due to pandemic to identify the most innovative and useful Proof of Concepts(PoCs) developed by engineering students. 

A total of 9000 plus teams were  scouted from more than 900  IIC institutions across India and got 1400 odd best prototype nominations from Institutes for further evaluation and support. After multiple rounds of evaluation and mentoring rounds and training, finally 410 reached a level of development of a business plan for their innovations. Students cleared competitive rounds of evaluation which involved extensive knowledge of business plan, clinical trials and commercialization aspects. 

Then finally 131 teams from the program NIC 2020 and YUKTI2l.0 were selected for finals and after going through rounds of assessment and pitching, finally, 45 teams were selected for funding and incubation linkage support.

Out of these,  team  UIET was finally selected for Grant Support of Rs.5,50,000/- and Incubation Linkage by MHRD. 

The startup Simply 3D is a 3D sector-based venture that develops and constructs wire extruder machines that produce low-cost filaments used for FDM-based 3D printing by utilizing waste/virgin plastic shredded pellets. This machine was developed with the funding and technical support from DIC (Medical Devices & Restorative Technologies lab) and aspire to contribute towards the Made-in-India policy by setting up India-based wire extruder machine manufacturing venture and by allowing customers to shop and invest in a sustained environment for 3D printing by reducing plastic waste consumption.

मुनि जी मन्दिर, सैक्टर 23 में हिमाचल महासभा की एक बैठक सभा के अध्यक्ष पृथ्वी सिंह चन्दरानी की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित की गई। संस्था के महासचिव रमेश सहोड़ ने बताया कि बैठक में निर्णय लिया गया कि हिमाचल महासभा चण्डीगढ़ में बड़ी संख्या में रह रहे हिमाचली समुदाय के हितों को देखते हुए आने वाले नगर निगम चुनावों में प्रत्येक राष्ट्रीय और क्षेत्रीय पार्टियों द्वारा हिमाचली पृष्ठभूमि से जुड़े उम्मीदवारों का पूर्ण समर्थन देगी। पृथ्वी सिंह चन्दरानी के कहा कि हालांकि सभा एक गैर राजनीतिक संस्था है, परन्तु दलगत राजनीति से ऊपर उठकर संस्था हिमाचली भाईचारे के लिए चुनावों में कार्य करेगी।उन्होंने ये भी बताया कि महासभा के बैनर तले चण्डीगढ़ में एक बैडमिन्टन टूर्नामैंट का आयोजन भी किया जाएगा जिससे समाज में खासकर युवा वर्ग जो नशे के गर्त में गिरकर अपना भविष्य बिगाड़ रहा है वह व्यक्तिगत स्वास्थ्य और खेलों के प्रति जागरूक हो। उन्होंने कहा कि टूर्नामेंट में भाग लेने के इच्छुक 9988250455, 9872989284 पर संपर्क कर सकते हैं। टूर्नामेंट की तिथियां जल्द घोषित की जाएंगी।

वोकेशनल टीचर्स ने शिक्षा सदन के सामने किया पुतला दहन

18 नवंबर 2021 आज वोकेशनल टीचर्स के आंदोलन का 25वा दिन है वोकेशनल टीचर्स 25 अक्टूबर से लगातार आंदोलन कर रहे हैं आज के आंदोलन की अध्यक्षता कैथल जिला प्रधान अनिल दलाल व महिला प्रधान सीमा रानी और जींद जिला प्रधान राजेश कौशिक व महिला प्रधान प्रीति राजपूत ने की । राज्य प्रधान अनूप ढिल्लो ने बताया कि कल 2 जिलों के वोकेशनल टीचर्स ने शिक्षा सदन के अधिकारियों का जो जमीर मर चुका है उसकी शव यात्रा निकाली है और आज के इन जिलों ने शिक्षा सदन के सामने शिक्षा सदन के पुतले का दहन किया और 2 घंटे नारे बाजी की । वोकेशनल टीचर्स अपनी 3 मांगो को लेकर आंदोलन कर रहे है सबसे पहली तो शिक्षा विभाग में मर्ज करने कि है जो की बीजेपी सरकार ने 2019 में वादा की थी मगर आज तक पूरी नहीं हुई । दूसरी समान काम समान वेतन की है शिक्षा विभाग में ही दूसरे वोकेशनल टीचर्स को 48112 रुपए वेतनमान मिल रहा है जबकि हमें 23241 रुपए वेतनमान मिल रहा हैं दोनों को समान वेतन मिलना चाहिए तीसरी मांग सर्विस रुल लागू कर 58 साल तक जॉब सिक्योरटी देने कि हैं । 25 दिन बीत जाने के बाद आज तक ना तो सरकार ने , ना ही विभाग ने कोई ठोस जवाब दिया है अब वोकेशनल टीचर्स 24 अक्टूबर से 3 दिवसीय महाआंदोलन का ऐलान कर रखा हैं जिसमे 22 जिलों के सभी वोकेशनल टीचर्स हिस्सा लेंगे और फिर से रोष मार्च निकलेंगे। इस मौके पर राज्य सचिव गीता रानी , राज्य सह सचिव दर्शन नैन , ज़ोन प्रभारी राजकुमार , सोनीपत जिला प्रधान नवीन सिंह , नवनीत कौर नीलम मुकेश गरिमा कविता सुमन , नीलम , अनिल , सुमेश , सुनील , सुचित्रा , रेखा आदि मौजूद रहे

झुग्गीस्कूल के बच्चों को चप्पलें एवं स्टेशनरी वितरित

जयपुर 16 नवम्बर, 2021। गरीब बच्चों की शिक्षा एवं अधिकारों के लिये संघर्षरत प्रमुख सामाजिक संस्था ह्यूमन लाईफ फाऊण्डेशन द्वारा निःशुल्क संचालित झुग्गीस्कूल की द्वारिकापुरी शाखा में आज जरूरतमंद बच्चों को, मानव मिलन संस्था के सहयोग से गरीब बच्चों को चप्पलों का वितरण किया गया। ह्यूमन लाई्फ फाऊण्डेषन के फाऊण्डर एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हेमराज चतुर्वेदी ने बताया कि केन्द्र में नित्य अध्ययनरत कुल 46 बच्चों को चप्पलें वितरण की गईं। उन्होनें बच्चों को आज का मिड डे मील भी उपलब्ध कराया जिसमें में फल एवं मिठाई वितरित की गईं। चप्पलें एवं स्पेशल मिड डे मील पाकर बच्चों को बहुत आनन्द आया। खुश हुए बच्चों ने भविष्य में रोज पढने व कभी भी नशा न करने एवं स्वच्छ रहने के संकल्प को बार बार दोहराया। कार्यक्रम के अंत में मुख्य अतिथि मानव मिलन संस्था के अध्यक्ष प्रमोद चैरडिया ने बच्चों को प्रेरित करते हुए कहा कि ज्ञान के बिना जीवन में परिवर्तन आना मुश्किल है इसलिए पढाई को पहली वरियता देनी चाहिए। बच्चे ही देश का भविष्य हैं। अवसरों की कोई कमी नहीं है। आगे चलकर आप भी स्वब्लबी अथवा अधिकारी बन सकते हो । समझाया कि वंचितों को शिक्षित बनाये बिना समाज का समग्र एवं संतुलित विकास नहीं हो सकता। इसलिए आह्वान किया कि संभ्रान्त समाज होनहार गरीब बच्चों की मदद के लिए आगे आये।
कार्यक्रम में विशिष्ट अतिथि नेहा व विनोद सोमानी ने बच्चों को कहा कि पढोगे तो ही आगे बढोगे। आगे बढने के लिए स्कूल ही पहली सीढी है। आज गरीब का बच्चा भी आगे बढ सकता है। संपूर्ण शिक्षित समाज आपकी मदद के लिए तत्पर है। इस अवसर पर राजेन्द्र जैन व शिक्षिका रेखा चतुर्वेदी उपस्थिति रहे

Inauguration of Student Induction Program at UIET, PU

University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized day one of the Students’ Induction Programme, which is being held from 17th to 20th November, 2021. The orientation is being organized by the Department of Applied Sciences, UIET under the guidance and patronage of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Prof. J.K. Goswamy, Director UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with the Brand Promotion Committee. 

The objective of the orientation is to sensitize students towards exploring their academic interests and introduce students to the curriculum of UIET and Panjab University. During this four day event, expert lectures will be delivered by experts from different domains of society like PGIMER, Art of Living, social workers, etc.

The inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University who motivated the students to come out with innovative solutions to problems. He highlighted the tremendous opportunities available in Panjab University and encouraged the students to collaborate with multiple disciplines and come up with startup ideas. His address was followed by a welcome note by Prof. JK Goswamy, Director, UIET. He stated that in this era of COVID-19 pandemic, the online orientation will definitely give them an insight about the university. All the different branch coordinators addressed the students and apprised them about the facilities and resources available within their disciplines. The ceremony was concluded with a thank you note by the coordinator of the Department of Applied Sciences, UIET.

The online inaugural session was attended by 400 students.

PU Organises Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh  organized Web Series-1 with Collaboration in National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun, on the topic “Understanding Visual and Performing Arts: Its Role in Enhancing Learning for Children with Special Needs today under the Web series of AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

The Webinar was organized under the patronage of our honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar and chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Navleen Kaur Chairperson, Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The chairperson introduced the topic and warm welcomed the resource person Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Assistant Professor, National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun. He highlighted different aspects of arts and multiple intelligence which involved in creating the relationship between human and environment. It was also focused on the types of arts (visual and performing) which are required by the children with special needs in the process of academic and nonacademic learning. By understanding and training of these arts, children with special needs will be capable to orient themselves appropriately and enhance of their potential of learning very comfortably.

Around 100 participants like; rehabilitation professionals, research scholars, students, parents, and other stakeholders attended the Webinar. The skills learnt in this webinar can be utilized by them to enhance the learning capability of children with special needs (CWSN). Dr. Md. Saifur Rahman  proposed the vote of thanks.
